Teero review: dental insurance posting and aging, what it costs and who it fits

What Teero’s Posting & Aging service includes and leaves out, the 2% fee and $800 minimum worked out at five collection levels, contract terms, practice software and the questions to ask.

By Dr. Salem Sayegh, general dentist, Glendora, California ·

The short answer: Teero, best known for temporary hygienist staffing, also sells dental insurance posting and aging follow-up. Its billers post EOBs and ERAs every business day and work denials and appeals, but they do not submit claims. It costs 2% of insurance collections with an $800 monthly minimum, on a 12-month or month-to-month term.

A disclosure first. I am a general dentist and the founder of Amalgamate Technologies, which builds Sai for Dentists. Sai overlaps with Teero’s posting work. This review sticks to what Teero publishes and says where Teero covers more than we do. Everything below was checked on November 4, 2026.

What is Teero?

Teero is an Austin, Texas company founded in 2022 by two former Uber executives. It is best known for its staffing marketplace: offices post hygienist shifts, and Teero fills them with hygienists it employs on W-2. Its home page says more than 5,000 practices use it. PitchBook reports about $10.9 million raised, including a $7 million round in November 2024.

The insurance side is newer. Teero sells Insurance Posting & Aging as the core service, with insurance verification as an add-on and patient billing in early access. It describes the work as AI automation plus US-based billing specialists in Austin.

How much does Teero cost?

Teero charges 2% of insurance collections for Posting & Aging, with volume discounts and an $800 monthly minimum. The minimum also covers the verification add-on. Here is that price at five collection levels, before any volume discount and before the onboarding fee, which Teero quotes per practice.

Illustrative: Teero’s 2% fee and $800 minimum applied to monthly insurance collections
Monthly insurance collectionsPer monthPer year
$30,000$800$9,600
$50,000$1,000$12,000
$75,000$1,500$18,000
$100,000$2,000$24,000
$150,000$3,000$36,000

Two percent is lower than the 2.5% to 3.5% that full-service billers such aseAssist and Wisdomcharge, but Teero also does less: claims stay with your team. Below $40,000 a month, the $800 minimum is what you pay. Compare the fee against the same scope of work, not the headline rate. Our guide tooutsourced dental billing cost walks through that comparison.

What Teero does, and what it leaves with you

  • Included: daily posting of EOBs and ERAs, the aging report, denials, secondary claims and appeals. Insurance AR over 31 days is worked by Teero’s team.
  • Add-on: insurance verification. Eligibility checks are free and full benefits breakdowns are $5 each.
  • Early access: patient billing, for a limited number of practices.
  • Not included: claim submission. Teero’s FAQ says plainly that it does not submit claims.

Splitting the work this way is reasonable. Claims are created at checkout, where your team already knows the patient and the procedure. It does mean you still need someone in the office who submits clean claims every day.

What Teero does well

  • A published price. Few posting services print the rate and the minimum. Teero does, with a worked example in its FAQ.
  • Month-to-month available. You can try it without a 12-month commitment.
  • Fast start. Teero says most practices are live within days once access to the practice software is set up.
  • Aging and appeals included. Posting alone does not get claims paid. Teero’s fee covers following up on unpaid ones.
  • One vendor for staffing and billing. If you already book hygienists through Teero, adding insurance work keeps it to one account.

What to check before you sign

  • The onboarding fee. It is quoted per practice. Get it in writing.
  • Term and price together. Ask whether month-to-month costs more than the 12-month term.
  • Where the volume discounts start. The FAQ mentions discounts but not the thresholds.
  • Portal-only payers. Some dental payers send no ERA and post the EOB only in their portal. Ask who retrieves those and how fast.
  • Underpayments. Ask whether each allowed amount is compared with your contracted fee schedule before the write-off posts. EOB scrubbing explains why a normal-looking CO-45 write-off can hide an underpayment.
  • Bank reconciliation. Ask whether posted payments are matched to the actual deposits. See how to reconcile dental insurance deposits.

What do offices say about Teero?

Teero’s public ratings are high: 4.9 on the App Store and Google Play and 5.0 on Google, from thousands of reviews in total. Nearly all of those come from the staffing app, mostly from hygienists, so they say little about the insurance service. Ask Teero for two offices on your practice software that have used Posting & Aging for at least six months, and call them.

Who Teero fits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if you:

  • want posting and aging follow-up handled, and already submit claims well in-house;
  • run Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft or Open Dental;
  • want a published percentage and a month-to-month option.

Look elsewhere if you:

  • want claim submission handled too; a full-service biller such as Wisdom, DayDream or Dental Claim Support covers it;
  • want a price that does not rise with your collections.

How Sai for Dentists differs

  • Fixed price. Sai is priced at a fixed amount, never a percentage of collections or a per-claim fee. It is free during our startup cohort.
  • Every EOB line checked against your contract. Our dental billing engine compares each allowed amount with your contracted fee schedule and the payer’s rules before the line posts. Underpayments and downgrades are flagged instead of written off, and billing specialists review any line the engine is unsure of.
  • EOBs from payer portals. Sai signs in to each portal, downloads the EOB, posts it in your practice software on screen and matches the totals to the bank deposit.
  • No vendor lock-in. Sai works inside your existing setup. Claims, appeals and verification stay with whoever does them today.

Teero covers more on aging and appeals, since its billers follow up on unpaid claims. If that follow-up is what you are missing, weigh that.

If you are behind on posting today

If EOBs have piled up, our startup cohort clears the backlog free: we retrieve the missing EOBs, post every payment and reconcile the deposits. See the free backlog cleanup, or the seven-step plan if you would rather do it yourself.

Sai for Dentists, which our company builds, is an AI agent that retrieves EOBs from payer portals, posts them in your practice software and reconciles the deposits for a fixed price, never a percentage of collections. Before each line posts, our dental billing engine checks the allowed amount against your contracted fee schedule.
