DayDream dental billing review: what the service covers, and what to ask about price
What DayDream’s full-service dental billing covers, its 24-hour posting and setup claims, practice software, why there is no published price, and the questions to ask before you sign.
By Dr. Salem Sayegh, general dentist, Glendora, California ·
The short answer: DayDream is an outsourced dental billing service that pairs its own software with in-house billers. It covers verification, claims, follow-up, appeals, payment posting and patient billing. It says payments post within 24 hours and setup takes under a week. It does not publish prices, so you need a written quote.
A disclosure first. I am a general dentist and the founder of Amalgamate Technologies, which builds Sai for Dentists. Sai overlaps with DayDream’s posting and reconciliation, but not its claims, appeals or patient billing. This review sticks to what DayDream publishes. What is DayDream?
DayDream Technology, Inc. runs dental billing for offices. Its handbook says its founders grew up in dental practices and that the company blends automation with expert billing teams. Its site says it has processed tens of millions of dollars of claims for hundreds of locations across the country.
It installs software in your practice management system so its team can read the schedule and ledger and write results back. It also publishes small free tools, including a CDT code lookup and a payer portal helper.

What DayDream covers
- Insurance verification: breakdowns of common codes and coverage details, saved to the patient’s record.
- Insurance billing: claim submission, follow-up and denial appeals.
- Payment posting: within 24 hours, according to its home page.
- Patient billing: statements by text, email or mail, with payment links and QR codes.
- Reporting: analytics and audit logs.
That is the full revenue cycle, from the check-in to the patient statement. If you want to hand off everything, DayDream is built for that.
How much does DayDream cost?
DayDream does not publish a price. Its April 2026 post on billing pricing models explains percentage, flat and per-claim pricing in general but does not say which one DayDream uses. Two other posts on its blog give different figures: one says $400 to $600 a month, and another gives both $500 to $2,500 and $1,200 to $2,500 a month, varying by volume. Neither says exactly what scope the price covers. Treat those as marketing examples, not a quote.
For a sense of the market: full-service billers that publish prices, such asWisdom and eAssist, charge about $1,400 a month under $40,000 in insurance collections, then 2.5% to 3.5%. Our guide tooutsourced dental billing cost shows how to compare quotes.
What DayDream does well
- End-to-end scope. Verification, claims, appeals, posting and patient billing from one team.
- Stated turnaround. 24-hour posting and a seven-day follow-up cycle are concrete promises you can hold it to.
- Fast setup. Under a week, by its account.
- Experienced account managers. It says they have eight or more years of in-office experience.
What to check before you sign
- The pricing model. Percentage of collections, flat fee or per claim, plus any setup fee. Get it in writing.
- Contract length and notice period. Neither is on the site.
- Your practice software. Only Open Dental is named. Ask to see a posting in your system.
- Where the billers are. The site says in-house experts but not where they work. Ask.
- Underpayments. Ask whether each allowed amount is compared with your contracted fee schedule before the write-off posts. EOB scrubbing explains why.
- The 24-hour promise. Ask whether it counts from when the EOB arrives or from when DayDream retrieves it, and who pulls EOBs from payer portals.
What do offices say about DayDream?
We found few independent reviews from dental offices. Searching mostly returns DayDream’s own blog, job listings and directory pages. Ask DayDream for two offices on your practice software and of your size, and call them.
Who DayDream fits, and who should look elsewhere
A good fit if you:
- want the whole revenue cycle handed off, including patient statements;
- run Open Dental, or DayDream confirms your system;
- are comfortable getting a price after a call.
Look elsewhere if you:
- need a published price to budget against; Wisdom and Teero publish theirs;
- only need posting, and claims are already handled well in-house.
How Sai for Dentists differs
- Fixed price. Sai is priced at a fixed amount, never a percentage of collections or a per-claim fee. It is free during our startup cohort.
- Every EOB line checked against your contract. Our dental billing engine compares each allowed amount with your contracted fee schedule and the payer’s rules before the line posts. Underpayments and downgrades are flagged instead of written off, and billing specialists review any line the engine is unsure of.
- Works on screen, in any system. Sai signs in to each payer portal and posts in your practice software the way your team does, then matches totals to the bank deposit.
- No vendor lock-in. Sai works inside your existing setup. Claims, appeals, verification and patient billing stay with whoever does them today.
DayDream covers more: if you want verification, claims, appeals and patient statements handled by one team, it does all of that and Sai does not.
If you are behind on posting today
If EOBs have piled up, our startup cohort clears the backlog free: we retrieve the missing EOBs, post every payment and reconcile the deposits. See the free backlog cleanup, or the seven-step plan if you would rather do it yourself.

Common questions
What is DayDream dental billing?
DayDream (DayDream Technology, Inc.) is an outsourced dental revenue cycle service. It combines its own software with in-house billing specialists to handle insurance verification, claim submission and follow-up, denial appeals, payment posting and patient billing. Its handbook says the founders grew up in dental practices.
How much does DayDream cost?
DayDream does not publish a price. Its website and handbook direct you to book a call, and its blog post on billing pricing models does not say which model DayDream uses. Two of its own blog posts give different monthly ranges, so get a written quote that states the pricing model, the setup fee and the contract term.
Which practice management software does DayDream work with?
DayDream says it installs software into your practice management system within 24 hours so it can read and write back to it. Its handbook names Open Dental and says “and more” without listing others. Ask whether it supports your system and version.
How fast does DayDream post payments?
DayDream’s home page says payments are posted within 24 hours and outstanding claims are worked every seven days, and that setup takes less than a week.
Is DayDream the same as Daydream Dental, the dental practice?
No. Search results also show a dental practice with a similar name. This review covers DayDream Technology, the billing company at daydream.dental.
How does DayDream compare with Sai for Dentists?
DayDream is a full-service billing team: verification, claims, follow-up, appeals, posting and patient statements. Sai for Dentists, which our company builds, is an AI agent focused on retrieving EOBs, posting them and reconciling deposits, for a fixed price that is never a percentage of collections. Before each line posts, it checks the allowed amount against your contracted fee schedule. Claims and appeals stay with your team or your current biller.
