Dental Claim Support (DCS) review: pricing, services, and who it fits
Who Dental Claim Support is, its published billing and per-patient verification prices, what is included, what to ask before signing, and how it compares with eAssist.
By Dr. Salem Sayegh, general dentist, Glendora, California ·
The short answer: Dental Claim Support (DCS) is a Savannah, Georgia billing company founded in 2012. A remote team submits claims, posts EOBs and works unpaid claims. Billing costs $1,400 a month per location up to $40,000 in insurance collections, then 3.5% and lower, plus $399 setup. Verification is priced per patient. Ask for contract terms, which are not published.
A disclosure first. I am a general dentist and the founder of Amalgamate Technologies, which builds Sai for Dentists. Sai overlaps with part of what DCS does, the posting and reconciliation, but not claims or verification. This review sticks to what DCS publishes and marks where other information comes from. What is Dental Claim Support?
Dental Claim Support, which calls itself DCS, is an outsourced dental billing company based in Savannah, Georgia. Ryan DeLettre, Davy Clay and Josh Smith started it in 2012. It works with private practices and growing DSOs across the US through a remote team of billers. Its site says its experts handle insurance verification, billing, posting and follow-up, and offers a free analysis of an office’s accounts receivable and collections.
DCS sells general dental billing, a separate oral surgery billing service, insurance verification, and special projects to bring in old unpaid claims. Patient statements go out through a partner, QuantaPay, at no cost to offices on DCS insurance billing.

Is Dental Claim Support a real company?
Yes. People ask because so many search results for DCS are job listings and employee reviews. DCS has been in business since 2012 and made the Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing private companies four times by 2023. On November 1, 2026, its Google Business Profile showed 4.9 stars from 248 reviews. The Indeed and Glassdoor pages that rank for “Dental Claim Support reviews” are written by billers about working there. They say little about the service a dental office gets.
How much does Dental Claim Support cost?
DCS publishes its prices. Dental insurance billing is $1,400 a month per location and covers up to $40,000 of monthly insurance collections. Above that, DCS charges 3.5% of collections from $40,000 to $100,000, 3% from $100,000 to $150,000, and 2.5% above $150,000. Oral surgery billing starts at $1,875 a month, with rates from 5.25% down to 3.75%. Both carry a one-time $399 setup fee that includes equipment and IT setup. Groups and DSOs get a custom quote.
The base fee weighs most on small offices. An office collecting $20,000 a month from insurance pays $1,400, which is 7%. At $60,000 the fee is about $2,100, if the 3.5% applies to the whole amount, and at $100,000 about $3,500. Ask DCS to confirm whether each rate applies to the whole month or only to the part of collections in that band. For how this compares with other models, see what outsourced dental billing costs.
Insurance verification prices
| Service | Standard | Custom | Oral surgery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eligibility only | $2.50 | $2.50 | $2.50 |
| Full breakdown | $8.25 | $12.75 | $17.00 |
| Expedited full breakdown | $12.50 | $17.50 | $21.75 |
Expedited breakdowns come back within four business hours if sent before 1 pm Eastern. An office seeing 15 new or changed-insurance patients a week at the standard full breakdown would pay about $124 a week. Ourverification form shows what a full breakdown covers if you keep it in-house.
What DCS does well
- Published prices, including verification. Few billing companies post per-patient verification rates. DCS does.
- The whole insurance side. Claims, posting, follow-up, denials and appeals are part of billing, not add-ons.
- Statements included. Patient statements through QuantaPay come at no cost with insurance billing.
- Oral surgery has its own service. Surgical and medical-crossover billing is priced and staffed separately, which matters for oral surgeons.
- A track record. More than a decade in business and repeated growth awards.
What to check before you sign
- The contract. Length, notice period and any minimum are not on the pricing page. Get the service agreement first.
- Your practice software. DCS’s pages we checked do not name the systems it works in. Ask about yours by name and version.
- How the tiers are applied. Whole-amount or banded, it changes the fee in a big month.
- Who works your account. DCS says the number of people on an account depends on claim volume, with a dedicated account manager. Ask how often billers change.
- Underpayments. Ask whether each allowed amount is checked against your contracted fee schedule before a write-off posts. EOB scrubbing explains the check.
- Bank reconciliation. DCS posts EOBs and EFTs. Ask whether someone also matches each deposit to the bank statement, or whether that stays with you.
Dental Claim Support or eAssist?
They are the two names office managers compare most. Their published general dental billing rates are the same: $1,400 a month up to $40,000, then 3.5%, 3% and 2.5%. The differences are in the details. DCS charges $399 to set up and includes patient statements. eAssist lists no setup fee, charges $79 to $89 a month for its clearinghouse, says service is month-to-month and names six practice systems it works in. eAssist is also much larger by its own count. Our eAssist review covers it in full.
Who DCS fits, and who should look elsewhere
A good fit if you:
- want people to take over claims, posting and follow-up together;
- are an oral surgery practice that needs medical and dental billing;
- want verification from the same company, priced per patient.
Look elsewhere if you:
- collect well under $40,000 a month, where the base fee is a large share;
- send claims well already and only fall behind on posting;
- want a fixed price that does not rise with collections.
How Sai for Dentists differs
Sai is software, not a billing company, so it changes how the work is split rather than who does all of it.
- Fixed price. Sai is priced at a fixed amount. It is never a percentage of collections or a per-claim fee. It is free during our startup cohort.
- Every EOB line checked against your contract. Our dental billing engine compares each allowed amount with your contracted fee schedule and checks the payer’s rules before posting. Underpayments and downgrades are flagged, and billing specialists review any line the engine is unsure of.
- Retrieval, posting and reconciliation. Sai signs in to each payer portal, posts in Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Open Dental or any system on screen, and matches the totals to your bank deposits.
- No vendor lock-in. Sai works inside your existing setup. Claims, verification and appeals stay with your team or a billing company, and nothing has to move to us.
If you are behind on posting today
My brother Mark ran our family practice, and we cut our insurance AR by about 90% in a year by keeping a routine for every claim, EOB and deposit. If EOBs have piled up in your office, our startup cohortclears the backlog free, then Sai keeps you current at a fixed price. See thefree backlog cleanup, or the seven-step plan to do it yourself.

How does DCS compare with Sai for Dentists?
DCS is a billing service: people who submit claims, post payments and work unpaid claims for a fee tied to insurance collections. Sai for Dentists, which our company builds, is an AI agent that retrieves EOBs from payer portals, posts them in the practice software and reconciles deposits, at a fixed price. It checks each EOB line against the office’s contracted fee schedule before posting. Claims and appeals stay where they are.
